Awards in the capital for our clubs first two races.
We had a small contingent down at the o2 arena for the 2018 Running Awards. Not only was we short listed, we also took home two awards. The Monkey Mile fun run took silver in it's first year against some strong names in the line up. We also took bronze for the Safari 10 Miler. Amazing results considering it was our first year. Now time to knuckle down and turn them awards into golds.

The Fab Five ⛰⛰⛰⛰⛰
The lengths some do for cake or free beans on toast is amazing. So much so Tony Dicko and Mark Humphreys jumped on last minute to join Linda Guru Greengrass, Paul Cope and Amanda Holman.
Along with some drunk Santas they completed one of the toughest marathons in the UK.
Well done from everyone at the club 💚

Miler's of the Month!
Congratulations and well done to our October Miler & Mini Miler of the Month winners, Bhavna Mistryand Nathan Healy.
Bhav is our little 'Mouth from the South' who helps promote and support the club through various channels. If she's not racing you will find her marshalling instead and taking wonky selfies with teammates and those involved. She has trained well through October and completed Snowdonia marathon in a great time of 4hrs 29mins.
Nathan has improved so much over the last few months, his confidence has grown as well as his stamina and technique. He’s always entertaining and can gab the hind legs off a donkey.
Well done again Milers 💚💚

Well done to each and everyone of the Green Army!
Seems like it's been a quiet day for the Milers today?
From Milers making their debut at parkrun, a few cheeky parkrun wins, a big turnout at the Mid Lancs Athletics with adults and juniors smashing records, those crazy mountain goats out on the Snowdonia Trail Marathons and just those banking the miles...it's been a great start to the weekend.
May's Miler's of the month awards!
With many racing last week we held our announcement for Miler of the Month until today. Well done and congratulations to our May Miler of the Month, Hayley Smallman Was Sinclair and Mini Miler of the Month Ellie Dobie.
Ellie has impressed the coaches this month by really pushing herself in training on both the Wednesday and Friday sessions, leading from the front and always giving 100%. She also paced her younger brother to a cheeky win at a recent mile run (run for 96) in Stanley Park, allowing him to take the plaudits.
Hayley is one of the most inspirational people you can meet. She recently completed her first marathon at the RnR weekend, raising money for Claire's House where she also live streamed a message every mile to a child who recieves treatment there. Balancing her training as well as looking after her family was a real challenge and she smashed it.
Hayley has just recently visited Buckingham Palace for a afternoon with the Royals and in particular Prince Harry. Together with other inspirational parents they have started a campaign, #NOTANURSE_BUT, who have become full-time carers for their children whilst providing medical care despite not being nurses.
Well done Milers 💚💚💚💚

This weeks round-up news from the Milers
When racing mere mortals isn't enough then you have to look further a field for a greater challenge.
This weekend our chairman, James Warburton, took on Man V Horse. A 22-mile trail race that saw 650 runners pitted against 60 horses and riders. Rumours surfaced that My Little Pony even beat James to the finish line but that is yet to be confirmed.
Not to be outdone David Jones also raced a steam train. Race the Train was an 11-mile run from Bury to Rawtenstall. Friends and family ride the train shouting encouragement to the runners along the way. Great effort lads and certainly something a little different.
A massive well done to all who took part in the Decathlon 5K in Warrington, also to Joe Chedgzoy who was taking part in the NHS 5k and came 5 overall.

Pete recently qualified to represent GB in his age group at the World Duathlon in Canada next August and becomes the first Kirkby Miler to achieve this. It's a well earned reward for the hard work he continually puts in through consistent training.

Kevin has been consistently training over the last few weeks and took the plunge in moving groups on both the Wednesday and Thursday sessions. He has also ran a pb St Helens 10k and chipped away at his parkrun pb this month.
Tom has made a big improvement over the last couple of months. He always gives 100% and you can always rely on him to help out the other children in the group by explaining games and demonstrating what to do.

Mini Milers have a new member in Chinese student HaoTing Zheng.
Wednesday had a visit from HaoTing Zheng, a Chinese exchange student who is staying with one of our juniors family. After the session finished the children gave HoaTing a club vest to wear in her races in China and spread the word of the Milers in the far east.

Well done to our January Miler & Mini Miler of the Month, Jennifer Houghton and Mia O'Connor.
Jen is the female captain and has had a terrific month setting pb's and club records in 5k, 10k (twice) and half marathon. She is always at every event rallying the Milers female team and to be honest deserves this and more for putting up with Kenny and David's stick all the time.
Mia is one of the hardest working Juniors we have. She will always stick at it and keep going no matter what when others would easily break. She doesn't let anything faze her and we even had a marshal commend her effort and commitment in a race recently.
Well done again girls 💚💚

#runandtalk at Croxteth Hall Parkrun. It's good to talk.
This week Croxteth Hall parkrun in association with the Kirkby Milers hosted Run and Talk. Run and Talk aims to end the stigma of talking about mental health and give those who are struggling with mental health issues the opportunity to run and talk in a supportive environment. The Kirkby Milers Mental Health Ambassador, Danika Leahey teamed up with parkrun to raise awareness and this is what Time to Talk Day is all about – giving us all the chance to talk and listen about mental health.
We will shortly be announcing when our run and talk will happen on a more regular occasion.

Gary has been with the club a few months now and has made a massive impact. He's jumped straight in competing at all the races and taking on cross country for the first time and has even had a go a parkrun pacing. You might also recognise Gary as the motor behind Ben's Buggy Runs or from his top dancing at the Xmas party.
Femke has been training very hard and giving 100% at everything. She has surprised her coaches with trying cross country and was even disappointed to miss a race while being away visiting family.

Helen has literally thrown herself into everything at the club. She is the only senior member to represent the club in all 3 cross country races this month as well as also competing in road and trail races. Helen is also a regular at the clubs athletics training and will try her hand at anything.
Elliot is improving all the time and keeps pushing himself in training and competition. He has represented the club at both cross country races this month and embraced the mud and hills, even finishing with one shoe. His running has come on leaps and bounds over the last few months and has even got his mile time down to 6:23, which for a 10 year old is superb.
